Simply Wonderful

I have four fifty foot grapefruit trees in my yard and I needed a juicer that was capable of handling large fruit and a motor powerful enough to handle the job at hand.I use it so often that I was afraid that it would end up as a permanent fixture on my counter top, but I found it easy to make room for it in the cabinet when I needed the extra space. Its so much easier to clean than the small juicers that I've gone through from Wal-Mart, but the tiny metal lip that controls the flow is delicate and needs some TLC. It has a good strong motor and its heavy enough to stay in place when the juice is being extracted. I tried the Cuisinart juicer but once you push down on the grapefruit, the grapefruit stays in place but the juicer spun around and blasted juice 360 degrees all around my kitchen!! I returned it immediately and looked long and hard to find this fabulous juicer. It comes with a universal cone so even the smallest lemons or limes can be juiced as well as the grapefruit!!

A Good Juicer

I love this juicer. My introduction to citrus juicers was my friend's Phillips brand juicer. It works flawlessly and is easy to clean. Unfortunately Phillips no longer makes it; hence my search for a suitable replacement. This Tribest is an excellent choice. It works well, has a powerful motor and is very easy to clean. I agree with reviewer Zimmerman that the metal lip which directs the juice to your glass feels delicate but it has worked flawlessly. If this juicer has a shortcoming it would be the fact that the screen is not adjustable as some juicers are. Having an adjustable screen allows you to determine how much of the pulp goes into the juice. I like lots of pulp. This juicer screens out a large portion of it. Of course, you can use your fingers and grab some of the pulp out of the screen and drop it in your juice but it would be nice to have an adjustment for that. Despite that, I still give this juicer a top rating.

Does just what it's supposed to do!

I had been apprehensive about buying a juicer, even though I consider it a luxury to start each day with fresh orange juice. You can go crazy and spend a pile o' dough on a machine that basically duplicates the results of old-fashioned hand juicers. But when the woman who runs this zoo bought a giant Juice-O-Rama machine that instantly reduces EVERYTHING to juice---did you know you can make juice out of bell peppers?!---I decided (since the one thing it WON'T do is squeeze the juice out an orange, though I imagine it will reduce the orange, peel and all, down to a liquid---heck, it will probably make juice out of a fireplace log) that perhaps I could afford the luxury of this machine.Now my morning ritual involves a Zen process of slicing, juicing, and rinsing. Though the instructions say not to put any of the parts in the dishwasher, every once in a while I do throw in the screen, the top bowl, and the cones, and they do not seem any the worse for it. Usually, however, I just rinse the cutting board and then rinse off the cones, the screen, and the bowl, stacking the juicer parts on the cutting board to dry.Powerful? Just right---although once when I mashed down a little hard, the torque actually moved the juicer an inch or two---which would have been okay except for the fact that it moved the spout away from the glass. Oh, and then there was the time I set everything out, sliced the oranges, and proceeded to juice half an orange all over the counter, having forgotten to place a glass under the spout.Somehow, however, I decided that this was not a defect in the juicer.[UPDATE: MAY 1, 2011]Okay, I just happened to notice that I bought this thing almost exactly two years ago. I haven't used it every single day since then, but have certainly used it most mornings. I think it's now safe to declare its parts top-rack dishwasher safe! And looking at my never-ending life as an American Consumer, I am ready to declare that this juicer has been money well spent. It's still going strong. . . unlike most everything else in this place!

Just what I needed.

Well I order this juicer because my own had just stopped working after many years. I got it in white because it was a little bit less than the black one. The juicer is great for the way it is used in my household. If you are going to be juicing everyday maybe two time, or more I would say to get a model that has a stronger motor. This juicer does the job and there is nothing it can not handle. Carrots and apples with the skin on it still (less the seeds) are just a few of the things that I put in it. If you are going to make juicing part of your life and you are not really sure how much you will use it this one is the fit for you. I would not go with anything with less motor power than this one. This only gets four starts because the motor is not as strong as one of the other you can find, but outside of that it would have five stars.

Average, but for price should be better.

After a lot of research I bought the Weil and the Tribest Citristar knowing one was getting returned. This is a comparison of both. The Weil is 30 watts stronger, I'll give it that. It's much harder to stop the Weil than the Citristar with your hand but both motors are more than capable of the job. It is also a bit better looking, being steel on the outside vs. plastic. Cons are:1. Not very big at base, therefore tends to wobble just a bit at times. Tribest has much larger base and is far sturdier.2. The reemer isn't wide enough so instead of just pressing down you have to kind of squeeze the sides into it to extract all the juice. Also, half the ridges on the reemer or smooth and curved instead of coming to a point. This prohibits it from really tearing into the flesh of the fruit and extracting all the juice. I compared both with the same amount of oranges and the citristar extracted about 10% more juice than the Weil.3. The reemer on the citristar is much sturdier due to the shaft it sits on being twice as big as the Weil. Both were comparable in noise level in that the Citristar is slightly louder but the Weil has a much higher pitched squeel to it that I thought was a bit irritating. Cleanup for both was very easing. Both seemed to have the same pulp content in the juice. Generally, I feel the Citristar is a better all around juicer. The Weil seems more like asthetics may have been the top priority. Weil introduced this juicer with a whole lineup of kitchen appliances instead of focusing on just this product. It's advertised as being Swiss. I don't quite see it. Overall, it's a decent juicer but for the current price of $80 to $100 either get the Citristar or step up to the Breville Citrus Press.

So Far, OK

The only thing I have to compare this juicer to is the manual lever press model I've used for 30 years. The manual was fine for the occasional lemon or lime I had to squeeze, but recently my husband took to mixing fresh lime juice into his seltzer instead of drinking orange juice. We were going through 5 limes a day and the process was making our mild carpel tunnel problems flare up, and the process was messy, so we decided to go electric. When reading this review,keep in mind that I've only used this product for limes and lemons...not larger fruits.We had a choice between the Dr. Weill/Spring, the less expensive Cuisinart, and the more expensive Breville automatic lever model(which was too tall for our counter set up and more than we wanted to pay).So far, from reading the other reviews, this was the right choice. It is not truely 'automatic' because you do have to press the fruit against the reamer for what seems a relatively long time (compared to the manual press), but it is much easier on the hands and delivers much more juice. The machine is quite stable, so you can use both hands to manipulate the fruit. The spout works well and accomplishes the process with virtually no mess aside from having to rinse out the pieces. It stores nicely and looks great.The major problem with all of the other electric models seems to be longevity, and since we've only been using the juicer for a week, I can't speak to this issue yet.I don't know why they felt it necessary to include a stainless steel cup...I would have rather paid less.
